(A writing under the pretext of Rayhaneh Gorjian art work review)

Before the world of words, the human is identified of culture, history & collective unconscious. In this pre world, the other, something similar to love, is the subject of the unknown future speaker. For this reason the human is being meant in the language use and its basic role to reach understanding and to face the other. If modernity is the consequence of new look to the reality and differentiates with the ancient aesthetic perception, it is not expressive and because the modern art isn’t expressive, it isn’t the imitator of reality either. The emphasis of modern art on the lack of presentment, leads to the creation of something unique. In other words, modern art, intends to create an incomparable phenomenon which comes from the artists mind with his very own explanation and presentation. This feature more or less, makes the art works of contemporary artists have some problems in communication with the contacts and turns to be vague. These believe that their abstract art is a form of art which looks at the world only at the color and the shape point of view. The modern arts function, divides its contacts into two groups of high & down level which names the high level the group of elites, open-minded & artists and the other levels name is the mass of people. Therefore the art work being produced in any level would be spent at the same contacts level. Here in the relation of the artist with these concepts has a high level of importance to which, Rayhaneh Gorjian, conscious or unconsciously has utilized the average of these two levels in producing her art works. All of her works including bulls, humans, sun drawings, suffered woman-like sculptures and the figurative organ-likes that she has created are rendered from a fluid mind which seems to have been cooperated in the experiences of contemporary human. Her art works can be meant in the consideration of relation. Other wise and at the first sight they seem to be initial, handy and the outcome of a childish game. One of the most important fields that has attracted contemporary figurative artists is the effect of situation and space. These two factors are hidden in Rayhaneh Gorjians works. Nature and the life environment of this artist have made an opportunity for her to make forms, shapes, spirals and colors under the effect of modern art. This artists drawings of sun, are suffered goddesses who were earlier witnesses of the come and go time and human at Mazandarans Saghanepars* [saghanepar or saghanefars are some huts or booths which are mostly built in north of Iran, Mazandaran, near mosques or grave yards for different use. ] and now every time they show themselves under the every days struggle. For the artist, wounds are the beginning of a story not a bitter sad end of an event. Artist regardless of basic human concepts always would be identified in relation with freedom and invokes or kicks back the society. The approach of freedom differs in artists. Unfair social, cultural, artistic & political situations are bright excuses for expressing artistic ideas. Whether the lifetime could take it or not, the artist would express his being by the relation of living freely as if being free is an inseparable part of artists nature like breathing. This sense of responsibility is veiled in women-like sculptures of Rayhaneh. The eyes that see and the mouths that are shut, are the interpreters of contemporary humans hardships and the violence which is made against human specially women. Hand tied body sculptures, fruitless branches, faceless earthen sculptures, are the disclosure of artists experiences which are expressed with the modern art in them. The artists approach to the ancient signs didn’t keep her from modern narrating and it didn’t diminish her importance of contemporary art either. The riches of myths and ancient signs have approved her modern conceptualization and uniting the past and now. In fact, her return is a modern return to now. A return that within which the recognition of folklore streaks and fertile culturizing substrate has a high level of importance and with studying her works it can be perceived that artists unconscious at the pre-mind level has tend to touch the intellectual conscious and has taken out something unique, modern and admirable. The important point at the artistic point of view is that the artist who tries to create something from the inside of a matter it doesn’t mean that he creates something from that matter but shaping the matter so that it expresses the condition of something. Attention to the importance of these two concepts and dividing these two points leads to the distinction of the artists produce from a childish game. Although without any inner childish game, artist is meaningless. At the beginning of the twentieth century in the modernism discourse, artistic valuation was believed to be lack of communication with any outer phenomenon while at the end of this century by challenging any definite motive, judgment or idea about the circumstances of artistic valuation it is emphasized on the relation of art and life. By challenging the idea of producing unique art, post modern, has taken art to the ventricle of society and it has stood against any purism and contactless abstraction which believed the art to be the only subject and spends of an open-minded individual. Perhaps, Rayhaneh Gorjians art can be narrated at the area of post modern but the situation of locality and time of this artist and the fact that we are spending the age of passage dissuades the writer from a post modern point of view to this artist works. Although her works are in a meaningful relation with the masses of people and succeeded open-minded. The artist talks within the paralyzing captivity of urban life and this talking is an important matter, if the result of Rayhaneh Gorjians talking is a feminine artistic explanation in nowadays patriarchal pressure, which is more than that, is enough. The opportunity for women to speak has affected us from the unknown yesterday to nowadays and doubtless it will be affecting from now until the future. Women artists as her fill their lung with the alive air of art and breathe upon the stuffy and smoky air of the town and infiltrate a new dream. The fact that how important Rayhaneh Gorjians artworks are or where they stand in the world of art does not matter. The matter is that she is now speaking with us with her works after two decades of continual activity.
